Russia develops its anti-tank missile "shot and forgotten"

If the Russian industries have developed many high performance anti-tank systems, they have never produced a “fire and forget” missiles comparable to the American “Javelin”, generally using electro-optical guidance systems, such as laser sighting, or infrared wire guidance. According to statements by the director of the technology committeefrom the body of the Russian Defense Ministry in charge of artillery and missile systems, the development of such a system would have been notified to the NPO holding company, which brings together the main specialized companies in the field.

The “fire and forget” function eliminates the need to keep the target in sight while the missile travels the distance to the target, seriously exposing operators. New generation missiles, like the French MMP, allow not only to take cover after firing, but to fire “blindly”, the target being detected and engaged during the flight. This allows, for example, to fire a missile over an obstacle, without ever having to expose yourself.
