After the Chinooks, the Air Force also wants to rent Super Puma helicopters

In the fall of 2017, we proposed, with Admiral Pierre-François Forissier, former Chief of Staff of the French Navy, and General Jean-Paul Palomeros, former Chief of Staff of the Army of the Air and former Supreme Allied Commander Transformation of NATO, the “Base Defense” model, which revolved around a global rental offer for army equipment and financing structured around a savings plan. At the time, the military and political authorities considered that the rental of military equipment could not constitute an applicable solution, because too restrictive and too expensive. What is more, the new Military Programming Law in preparation would meet all the expectations of the armed forces ...

Only two and a half years later, the Air Force published a third request for a rental offer in a few weeks concerning helicopters for the French armies, after the French Navy concerning 16 Dauphin and H160 helicopters, and after having previously started negotiations for CH-47 Chinook heavy helicopter rental. The request relates this time to EC225 Super Puma helicopters, intended to replace the Puma dating from the 80s which still perform search and rescue missions, especially on overseas bases.
