Joe Biden aligns American commitment to defend Taiwan with that of NATO

The American President is strongly contested in the United States but also on the international scene since the catastrophic collapse of state structures and the Afghan army in just a few weeks once the withdrawal of American soldiers began. In particular, many people make the link between this withdrawal and the determination that they now consider questionable by the United States to ensure the security of its close allies, including among the leaders of certain NATO countries . It was to explain these questions that the American president gave an interview to the ABC channel , an interview during which he was primarily questioned about the supposed failure of the US intelligence services to anticipate the debacle. The question of the consequences of this episode on the credibility of the United States with its allies was naturally addressed by the journalist, and Joe Biden's response, although largely unnoticed in the Western media focused on Afghanistan, marks a decisive step in the evolution of the global geopolitical situation.

Indeed, when the journalist pointed out the impact of this crisis on the credibility of the United States in ensuring the defense of Taiwan, the American president responded by putting Washington's determination to defend the island on an equal footing. independent with that which links the United States with its closest NATO allies, Japan and South Korea. By expressing himself in this way, Joe Biden confirms unequivocally that Washington has indeed decided to bury the agreements of the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, by which the United States agreed to consider the island as an integral part of the People's Republic of China, and committed not to intervene in the process of rapprochement of the two states, in particular by limiting deliveries of military equipment to equipment solely for defensive purposes in Taipei, and by committing not to deploy military forces on the island, although this last point is deliberately ambiguous at this level.

M109
The validation of the sale of 40 M109 self-propelled guns to Taiwan in early August triggered a new round of exercises by the PLA around the independent island.

Is a manufactured Thucydides trap at work in the Middle East against the United States?

By pushing American forces to respond in the Middle East, is Tehran participating in a Thucydides trap manufactured with Moscow, Beijing and perhaps others, to provoke American withdrawal and the collapse of the Western bloc? Since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, Iranian forces, such as the Revolutionary Guard Corps, […]
