Indeed, visiting Seoul to meet his counterpart Lee Jong-Sup, American Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin declared that the United States would increase the deployment of weapons and resources in the country, to respond to the increasing threat from Pyongyang.

Remember that in recent months, the North Korean armies have carried out a very intense show of force, carrying out no less than 83 tests of ballistic and cruise missiles of all types, whether short-range tactical, intercontinental strategic or strategies for changing environments. At the same time, the country continues an intense effort to modernize its nuclear and conventional forces, with the arrival of new models of combat tanks, infantry or artillery combat vehicles and self-propelled rocket launchers which, even if they do not match in quality the models implemented by its neighbor from the south and by the American forces permanently deployed in the peninsula, nevertheless represent a real threat due to their numbers.

To respond to this evolving threat, Washington will therefore increase the presence of air assets, including F-22 and F-35 stealth fighters, but also naval and land assets, as well as anti-air, anti-missile and anti-missile defense capabilities. response, so as to dissuade Pyongyang from any excessive adventurism. However, while Lloyd Austin assured his counterpart of the strengthening of US forces present in South Korea, as well as exercises between US and South Korean forces, he did not mention a possible deployment of nuclear capabilities on the ground.
