In many aspects, the Bundeswehr is far from being the most effective armed force on the old continent, particularly when we consider the budget it has available compared to the operational capabilities it itself recognizes. But there is one area in which it is in every way exemplary, support for the German defense industry. Thus, the order announced 18 days ago Leopard 2 to the new A8 standard, represents considerable support for imposing this development on the export scene, particularly in the face of competition from the South Korean K2 or the KF-51. Panther from Rheinmetall. Likewise, while support for the infantry fighting vehicle market was relatively reduced in recent years in a sluggish market, the upheavals linked to the war in Ukraine and its effects on the rapid and radical increase in demand for this type of armored vehicles, led Bundeswehr to reconsider its posture. This is how at the end of last week, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced the order for 200 new Puma infantry fighting vehicles, alongside the modernization of the Pumas already in service to improve their performance.
