The Scorpene Evolved faces a market of more than 50 conventional submarines by 2035 (1/2)

Presented by Naval Group in October 2023, as part of a call for tenders launched by Indonesia, the Scorpene Evolved submarine quickly positioned itself, through its technical and operational arguments and through the articulation of its offer. , as a great potential future success for French arms exports.

Since then, this evolution of the Scorpene, equipped in particular with the new Lithium-ion batteries, has established itself in Indonesia, with an order for two examples built on site, and, in sight, a total fleet of six ships to come. It has also become, alongside the Barracuda family of ocean submarines, selected by the Netherlands last March for 4 Blacksword Barracuda, the spearhead of the French industrialist's submarine offering, on the international scene.

To win in the many competitions to come, against the German TKMS submarines, the new Swedish Blekinge, the Spanish S-80+, or the South Korean Dosan Ahn Changho, the Scorpene Evolved will be able to rely on several key arguments, as a window of commercial opportunities opens up without equivalent in the last thirty years, concerning the global market for conventional submarines.

The 5 key arguments for Naval group's Scorpene Evolved to establish itself in the conventional submarine market

In October 2023, during the presentation of this submarine equipped with lithium-ion batteries, the French naval industrialist confirmed that it was making the Scorpene Evolved its workhorse to win in future competitions, without however neglecting the Barracuda family, like the Blacksword selected by the Netherlands, more models imposing, and meeting oceanic needs.

It must be said that today, Naval Group seems to have the perfect tool to engage in the window of opportunities that is presenting itself, and which will see more than a dozen world navies replace more than fifty submarines. -conventionally powered marine vessels, of the Scorpene Evolved category, by 2035.

In doing so, Naval Group will be able to rely on five major competitive arguments, likely to position the Scorpene Evolved as the favorite in many of these future competitions and negotiations.
