2020 was a year of extraordinary defense intensity, both from a political and technological point of view. And whatever some media say, it is very likely that 2021 will follow in the same vein, with increasingly intense international frictions, accelerating global rearmament, and increasingly clear national positions, all leading to an increase in number and intensity of crises. Certain subjects will have to be followed with great attention in the weeks and months to come, because they could very probably condition the Defense challenges for 2021 and the years to come.
United States Defense and International Policy
The United States remains today the greatest military and economic power on the planet. It is also the country which deploys the most troops and military means outside its borders. It is therefore not surprising that the evolutions of its defense policy and its postures on the international scene largely condition the evolutions of tensions in the world. After the 4 chaotic years of the Trump presidency in this area, many are placing their hopes on the new President-elect Joe Biden to appease the various hotbeds of tension on the planet. However, until now, the next tenant of the White House has been very discreet when it comes to the axes he intends to give to his policy in these key areas.
