DGA and French manufacturers are joining their efforts to urgently develop a prowling anti-tank ammunition carrying 80 km

Since the Nagorno-Karabakh war in 2020, most of the world's armies have undertaken to equip themselves with a new type of armament, the prowling anti-tank and deep-strike ammunition, also improperly called suicide drones.

Synthesizing the drone by its ease of use, its autonomy, its extension and its ability to search for possible targets thanks to its sensors while keeping the man in the loop and the tactical missile by its payload and its capacity of destruction, the prowling ammunition Harpy and Harop of Israeli invoice implemented by the Azeri soldiers, destroyed, during this war, several anti-aircraft systems and Armenian bunkers, while producing many spectacular videos attesting to this effectiveness.

Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Russian Lancet prowling munitions and those used by the Ukrainians such as the American Switchblade, as well as a large number of more or less home-made systems, have also played an important operational role, particularly in the neutralization of long-range mobile artillery systems.

However, beyond the initial surprise faced by the armies on both sides following the appearance of these systems, which are difficult to detect and counter with traditional equipment, their effectiveness has significantly decreased in recent months, while the parades to protect themselves from it also entered into service.

Thus, the effectiveness rate of the Russian Geranium long-range drones (Shahed 136) dropped significantly once the Ukrainian air defense was organized to counter them.

Similarly, today, according to various reports, Ukrainian forces are losing several thousand light reconnaissance drones and home-made prowlers each month, largely due to heavy jamming of GPS signals and much denser Russian data links. and effective than at the start of a conflict.

In fact, the development of a new prowling ammunition, which is moreover intended to equip a first-class conventional army like the French Army, must meet specifications that are far from trivial.

Not only must the drone have great autonomy, the ability to be implemented with a very reduced infrastructure, and carry high-performance optical detection and communication systems, but it must also be able to continue the mission despite likely intense jamming, as well as importing a large warhead capable of destroying the intended target, often armored vehicles.
