Since its entry into service aboard Ukrainian Su-24 fighter bombers modified for this purpose, the Franco-British SCALP / Storm Shadow airborne cruise missile from the European missile company MBDA, seems to be most effective in striking logistical sites and infrastructures Russians, at least if Ukrainian press releases are to be believed.
Conversely, Russian communication, for its part, repeats almost methodically thatshe manages to shoot down these missiles, often in a very unconvincing manner, because according to its press releases, the Russian anti-aircraft defense has already shot down more than a hundred of these missiles, without any proof having really been provided to support this score.
In fact, depending on whether one is more sensitive to Russian or Ukrainian communication, the perception can be radically different regarding the effectiveness of this cruise missile, although it is designed to thwart enemy anti-aircraft defenses.
These videos showing the Storm Shadow successfully challenge Russian anti-aircraft defense
But, videos published on Russian social networks in recent days could well give the end of this story, and the least we can say is that it would largely be in favor of a great effectiveness of the missile European.
A few days ago, a first video showed a Pantsir S1 system attempting to unsuccessfully intercept the European cruise missile using its missiles, despite an infrared collision.
Obviously, if infrared had indeed managed to spot and track the missile, the stealth of the latter was sufficient to render the guidance radar of the 95YA6-2/M missiles with a range of 20 km inoperative.
An even more edifying video, rexpected by the site The War Zone, appeared this weekend. This shows, in fact, a Scalp / Storm Shadow missile coming to destroy a site very decently protected by the Russian DCA.
