Ursula von der Leyen wants to make the European Commission a structuring force for the European defense effort

In recent weeks, and even more so since the threats made by D. Trump towards NATO if he were elected, European countries and their leaders seem driven by a new dynamic. Not surprisingly, since it is when our backs are against the wall that we need to move forward the most.

In this context, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, made a particularly incisive and ambitious speech, in an interview given to the Financial Times. This wants, in fact, to make the European Commission, and the EU in general, a structuring power to stimulate and support the defense effort of European countries, and to encourage them to produce and buy European, rather than American, South Korean and Israeli, like today.

Towards an initiative similar to the European Commission's Covid Plan to support the European defense effort

In this interview, which we can regret, due to its importance, that it is reserved for Financial Times subscribers, as it concerns 450 million Europeans, the President of the European Commission has, in fact, taken very offensive positions, both to strengthen the role and aid of the EU in the field of the countries' defense effort Europeans, only to support European strategic autonomy, by significantly increasing the acquisitions of European defense equipment by the European armies.

Ursula von der Leyen Covid plan
During the Covid crisis, the European Union, under the presidency of Ursula von der Leyen, launched a €750 billion recovery plan, now increased to more than €800 billion to take into account inflation.

To set the tone for her ambitions, while she seems to be a candidate for her own succession following the next European elections, Ursula von der Leyen compared the role that the European Union could play in the field of defending the old continent, to that which was its own, during the Covid crisis.

Let us recall that on this occasion, the European Union had set up a recovery plan of more than €800 billion, but also ensured the coordination of the purchase of vaccines between European countries, and authorized, temporarily, significant exemptions from public deficit ceilings, to member countries.

A new European Defense Commissioner is needed, for Ursula von der Leyen

However, there is no question, in the President of the Commission's speech, of reiterating the model of the Covid recovery plan, which is particularly expensive. On the other hand, it intends to use the legislative and structuring power of the EU, to optimize and increase the investment capacities of European countries, for the benefit of their armies, taking into account the urgency of needs in Europe, but also in Ukraine.

The first key measure, which she mentioned, would be the creation of a post of European Defense Commissioner, a full-fledged Commissioner, an identical member of the others, within the commission.

Thierry Breton
Internal Market Commissioner Therry Breton is very active on European defense industry issues today.

Let us recall that to date, defense issues are divided between the President of the European Commission herself, the Commissioner for the Internal Market, the French Thierry Breton, and the Spaniard Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy, who does not have the same prerogatives as a full-fledged European Commissioner.

  1. Hello and here we are.
Putin invaded the Donbass after having taken a beating in the outskirts of kyiv, poorly prepared this operation was launched with the illusion that the Ukrainian soldiers would not be up to the task and that the Western States in the lead would only react weakly, in Indeed the reaction of the West is weak but the Javelins are on the ground and the Ukrainians are fighting like dogs to defend their Capital.
Putin, upset, leaves with his tail between his legs and puts his country into a war economy, no quarter and no time to waste with these degenerate Western assholes and the Nazy Ukrainians.
Resumption of hostilities, no more fun, requisitions of factories, pots and pans are replaced with shells, war production, all means are good, electronic warfare, disinformation, cyber, elimination of opponents, we no longer saw it, now we see it everywhere, Putin digests his disappointment and swears revenge, he recovers from his setbacks
.The West rubs its eyes and does not believe the evidence. Putin wants his Great RUSSIA, full and complete from the time of the tsars of all Russia.
Sanctions and cries of horror, headlines and mocking comments on RUSSIAN warlike capabilities and the mediocrity of their war tools, don't even be afraid, we are the strongest, especially on TV.
Putin understood that we are scattered, poorly prepared and incapable of planning a conflict with Great Russia. Yet this is what hangs over our noses like a garland of snot.
We look at each other and count the points with a certain bad faith and good conscience, letting the Ukrainians get killed while we ask ourselves questions about the best way to anticipate the worst. It is very late.
Re-sanction in the mistaken belief that this will be enough to discourage the great Tsar and bring the Russian economy to its knees. Putin reeks of condescension towards his enemies, leaving them in the illusion that they are safe.
Error and re-error, it's not as if we were in a Hollywood production, Putin doesn't care and goes to tour the Grand Dukes with Xi Jimping, Kim Jong Un, Khamenei and other purveyors of armaments, he continues to sell his elixir to the highest bidders and even to Westerners under the cover of German heads, thus garnering the millions necessary for his war industry and his re-election.
Great good for him, because the Ukrainian front is, according to the latest news, about to give in to the thrust of the Russian hordes on the side of Avdiïvka.
Numerous and well-armed Russian troops are advancing contrary to what our strategists say.
Did he not take control of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, did he not flood the banks of the Dnieper with disregard for lives, did he not bomb schools, hospitals and cities with impunity? leaving his enemies without reaction?
Westerners are waking up and emerging from their lethargy. Things are degenerating and the war is slipping away from us, Putin is gaining the upper hand.
We look at each other like a china dog, counting on the Yankees with the illusion that Uncle SAM will come to our aid, error, the States will change shareholders and things are going bad.
    Dollars are stuck in Congress.
Europe is starting to ask itself existential questions.
Putin sneers and relishes Western dissensions, Putin exults the country is his boot his erection too and his re-election is beyond doubt.
We have forgotten that to deserve Peace we must not only prepare for War but above all be ready to wage it, do we not deserve Peace?
It is now perhaps too late to react, are we ready to send troops to be killed on the Ukrainian front, to switch to a real war economy and not to squabble?
Putin doesn't give a damn, let's have no doubt, he will go all the way even if it means throwing his nuclear cocktail on the Ukrainian countryside and cities.
We will be able to save our young people and our daily comfort, let us leave our little Western dreams and our illusions, end the care bears, there will be more people, crying and gnashing of teeth.
Our leaders are well aware that the deadline is fast approaching and are already shuddering at the prospect of having to deal with the uncertain future of our pensions, the future of our young people, and the catastrophe that is coming. The young Russians have no choice, it's the front or death, and it's the same thing in this case. How to react to an enemy who does not count his deaths and defies reason by using that of the strongest and retaliation.
The little tricks to find out who will take leadership of European arms production contracts for a conflict that promises to be Dantesque, Germany in the lead, in false ass, which plays with fire by shooting at the French's pasta to win the timbale by going to suck Biden's cock.
All that interests them currently is their industrial tools, their exports and their declining trade balance, they are in no mood to lose their place as European leader. Their responsibility for their delays when it comes to arms deliveries seems suspicious to me, to say the least.
France has now been preaching in the void for seven and five years to build a European defense, the Bundestag doesn't want it and the Europeans are buying made in the USA en masse, taken by the balls they find themselves with their ass between two chairs, and if the agitated Yankee decides in a fit of paranoid delirium to no longer provide the spare parts without certain compensation, that won't do it.
Our strengths are our faults and Putin laughs and enjoys our differences and our procrastination and he supports where it hurts, he plays with our differences, he is a master at this.
Our addiction no longer belongs to us for a long time now.
We are now up against the wall
Should we send our young men to war or let Putin crush us like shit?
It seems to me that it is very late to wake up, has mass been said? Will it be necessary to drink the Chalice down to the dregs?
For my part, it is blatantly obvious that we are not ready and we must not delude ourselves that the cards we hold are not to our advantage.
Is this certainly dark gray picture realistic? The future will tell
